Tuesday, October 21, 2008
6:00pm - 8:30pm
Cocktails 6 - 7pm
Hosted by Tatiana & Campion Platt and Eyebeam Board Chair Carolyn Rossip Malcolm
Followed by a private tour of the Untethered exhibition with curatorial fellow Sarah Cook and artists, and a public program of artist-led critiques of instrumental hacks.
By invitation only
Untethered is a sculpture garden of everyday objects deprogrammed of their original function, embedded with new intelligence, and transformed into surrealist and surprising readymades, including a photocopier that reads the night sky; a PDA turned guitar; and a piano that plays the Internet.
The Performing Machines program will feature demonstrations of pieces by five artists working at the intersection of art and technology.
Douglas Repetto (guest moderator)
Jamie Allen (former Eyebeam resident)
Jonah Brucker-Cohen (former Eyebeam fellow)
JooYoun Paek (former Eyebeam resident and Untethered artist)
Adrianne Wortzel (Eyebeam resident)
and others
