Gossip Girl Designer Abigail Lorick TEAMS UP with fashion (and Finance) TO FIGHT for a cure
Non-profit Saving Second Base to host breast cancer fundraiser during Fashion Week
On February 7, 2007, Abigail Lorick, famed designer for hit tv series Gossip Girl, will partner with non-profit Saving Second Base (SSB) to host a fashionable fundraiser aimed at mixing two very different demographics. Designers and fashion editors alongside investment bankers and traders will all raise a glass to fight breast cancer at newly opened cocktail lounge at Tailor (525 Broome Street). "Saving Second Base is founded on the belief that if our generation starts to devote time, energy, and funds now towards the battle against breast cancer, we can win the fight within our lifetime," SSB founder Marisa Lee says. "We are excited to raise awareness among young professionals from two of New York's most powerful and storied industries-fashion and finance."
During the event, which is set for Thursday of Fashion Week, SSB board members will don Lorick’s Fall ’08 designs and proceeds from the breast cancer pink specialty cocktail will go toward the organization. Other sponsors of the party include Urbanista.com, an New York City-based online rolodex, and eFinancialCareers, the online marketplace for financial jobs.
SSB is an organization of young professionals committed to raising money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure affiliated organizations. Our hope is that by spreading awareness about breast cancer at a young age, women and men will know where to go for support and resources if ever faced with a breast cancer diagnosis.
