About
At the start of WWII within the depths of the domestic division of the OWI the career of legendary artist Bernard Perlin was launched. At one time, the apprentice and heir apparent of the left wing associations of Ben Shahn, Bernard Perlin continued his artistic endeavors with both LIFE and Fortune magazines as a war correspondent. At the closure of WWII Mr. Perlin first showed at the Knoedler Gallery, instigated by Lincoln Kirstein, and was favorably reviewed by the New York Times. Over his lengthy and successful career he has been included in the major collections of The Whitneys, The Guggenheims and The Astors. Mr. Perlin has re-emerged onto the art scene with his most recent works of 2009 after an extended hiatus from the art world that has embraced him for over seventy years. His new work reveals his discovery of curiosity and enlightenment in an approach that is both joyful and mysterious. Please join Chair and the Maiden Gallery as we welcome back an old friend all too long silenced by the adversities of life. Bernard Perlin: A Retrospective and Continuation of a Life Well Lived. 08 October 2009 at Six pm Chair and the Maiden Gallery 19 Christopher Street, NYC www.chairandthemaiden.com 212 255 0562
