Through a wash of pastel and charcoal, he imbues each work with a powerful and uneasy ambivalence that catches beauty even in the darkest situations. This major retrospective features 100-plus works across a wide spectrum of media, with many of the animated films, drawings, prints, and theater models on display for the first time in the US.
