Intel has gone head-to-head with ARM, entering the tablet market with its Oak Trail Atom processor.Information Week reports that over 35 Atom-powered tablets will be released this year in Intels biggest ever push into the tablet market. The tablets are coming from a wide range of computer manufacturers, with the Atom-based platform being used in devices from Evolve III, Fujitsu, Lenovo, Motion Computing, Razer and Viliv.The devices, set for release in May and staggered throughout 2011, can provide all-day battery life, Information Week's Anton Gonsalves writes.Until Oak Trail, Intel hasnt had a low-power technology small enough to compete with ARM Holdings processors that are used in 99% of tablets, including Apple's iPads.
