Beautiful four day holiday weekend in New York; sunny and especially mild for late November. The city was quiet in my Upper East Side neighborhood. Zabar's on Friday was too compared to my regular Saturdays. Friday felt like Saturday. Saturday felt like Sunday and so Sunday felt like ... a bonus. Cabbies told me that midtown was heavy traffic, the kind they like to avoid whenever possible. This coming Wednesday, the last day of November, will be the mob scene of the month with the lighting of the Tree at Rockefeller Center and President Obama in town for some fund-raising.
