SoftLayer today rolled out a new global cloud storage service aimed at tackling the growing needs of big data.Based on the open source platform OpenStack, SoftLayer Object Storage allows users to easily store, search and retrieve data across the Internet, with optional [Content Delivery Network] connectivity, or across SoftLayers global private network, the company said on Tuesday.SoftLayer cites object-based storages strengths in automating and streamlining data storage in cloud environments.
