The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council is starting a new initiative to find individual donors for the massive River To River Festival held downtown each summer. The festival, which debuted in 2002 as a way to re-energize lower Manhattan after Sept. 11, has a $2 million budget that is funded by the government and corporate sponsors like American Express and Century 21. This year, the council launched a $25,000 fundraising campaign to attract individual donors. It has already raised 95% of the funds from 144 donors.
