Mission
"FASHION DELIVERS" is a newly created, not-for-profit organization intended to "mobilize the fashion and related industries to help our neighbors." Its mission is to provide products from all parts of the fashion and related industries to victims of natural disasters, matching need with availability of products. "Fashion Delivers" will build on the local network of K.I.D.S. agencies to distribute products quickly and directly to recipients.
About Us
In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Allan Ellinger and his partner discussed how the fashion industry could be mobilized to provide relief assistance in a coordinated, industry-wide effort. When they canvassed companies across the industry to determine the level of interest in participating, the response was overwhelming. While many of the larger companies in the industry have already contributed to the large, national relief organizations, it didn't appear that there was a structure in place that could mobilize the entire industry and channel products to those who needed it, when they needed it and to where it's needed. Thus began the vision of an "umbrella organization that could".
A number of relief agencies were then contacted to determine how to best channel products to the victims but Allan and his partner became concerned that merchandise collected would end up in a bureaucratic maze. A vision was then clarified and an umbrella organization was born.
On September 15, 2005, with only three days notice, twenty six industry leaders convened at a meeting at the offices of Mahoney Cohen to discuss the feasibility of launching such an organization. The turning point came when Kids in Distresses Situations' (K.I.D.S.) president, who attended the meeting, revealed that this twenty-year-old organization already had a structure in place to mobilize the children's industry. They were willing to form a strategic alliance with FASHION DELIVERS to assist in the men's, women's and home industries. K.I.D.S. will provide FASHION DELIVERS with an operating infrastructure to deliver products directly to over 1,000 charities with which K.I.D.S. has direct and personal relationships.
We have recently been incorporated as FASHION DELIVERS CHARITABLE FOUNDATION, Inc., and are registered as a not-for-profit organization. The goal of FASHION DELIVERS' is to ensure that the men's, women's and home fashion industries will be able to contribute needed new products to the victims of disasters and to ensure that these products will be delivered quickly and efficiently. Once the immediate mission is completed, we plan to continue to provide assistance to whoever needs help from our industries.
