About edit

Mission
The New York Junior League is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

Contributions to New York City
As one of the largest volunteer service organizations in New York City, the NYJL has 3,000 volunteers.  More than 60 committees support the community needs of New York City as well as the institutional needs of the organization. Its purpose is improving the lives of women and children in Manhattan by working with 30 community-based organizations and public agencies to deliver services and assistance directly to those in need.

Volunteer Training
The NYJL believes that effective service is accomplished through the efforts of highly skilled and well-informed volunteers. All new volunteers are required to complete an intensive training course and thereafter choose from a wide range of training programs each year. Through these programs, volunteers acquire the skills, knowledge and empowerment to effectively serve the community and the organization.
