Charlotte Ronson

About
Born in London into an artistic family and raised in New York, Charlotte Ronson followed the tradition by developing her own unique style at an early age. Friends took notice of her distinctive style, customized vintage tees and tanks, and asked her to create pieces for them. Ronson obliged and created her first collection, C. Ronson. In 2000, the C. Ronson collection evolved into a playful mix of 70’s inspired cotton tees, tooshies (novelty lingerie pieces) and coveted wedge heels that put her on the map as a designer to be noticed.  The collection gained instant recognition and the attention of renowned publications such as Vogue, Elle, Teen Vogue, WWD and the New York Times.  In May 2002, Ronson opened her flagship boutique on Elizabeth Street in New York’s hip NoLita neighborhood, gathering additional international press coverage. In 2005, Ronson joined forces with Japanese apparel giant, Sanei International, which owns over 1,000 contemporary apparel stores in Japan and throughout Asia. Sanei recognized the explosive potential of the designer and the brand and thrust her into the spotlight along with its stable of major licenses such as Jill Stuart, Diane von Furstenberg, Kate Spade, and Cacharel. Together with Ronson, Sanei decided to roll out 14 Charlotte Ronson boutiques in Japan, move into the Asian market, and begin a US and global expansion. Upon completion of the merger, Ronson re-positioned the brand and began to move into a more sophisticated and upscale territory. C. Ronson became “Charlotte Ronson” – a natural evolution of the brand and an accurate reflection of who Charlotte is and what she and her customer want to wear.  Ronson has developed a signature design aesthetic that is known for its feminine sensibility, and her originality in design continues to grow and mature each season, offering a full clothing collection and accessory line. Today the Charlotte Ronson collection has to become a well-known international brand that can be found in the better department stores and boutiques throughout the world. The growing demand for Charlotte Ronson resulted in the move to a larger retail space on Mulberry Street, where all the Charlotte Ronson favorites can be found.
