On Saturday, June 28, 2008, from 7:00pm-11:00pm the American Cancer Society will honor 3 outstanding members of the community based upon philanthropic history, influence in the community and their personal interest in the fight against cancer at the premier event of the summer %u2013 the Denim & Diamonds Gala at the exclusive Diamond Ranch in Southampton.
This year the Society will be honoring:
Count and Countess de Lesseps
Roy Scheider
Dr. Edna Kapenhas-Valdes
Over 300 guests will enjoy a cocktail reception and dinner, both a live & silent auction and dancing under the stars with live entertainment. This event will provide an excellent opportunity to network, celebrate life with friends, family, neighbors and business associates as well as an opportunity to reflect on those we have lost to this disease.
The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service. Proceeds from the Denim & Diamonds Gala will directly fund local services designed to help cancer patients and their families, educate the community on the importance of early detection, and fund national life saving research.
