Christopher Jonathan James Nolan (born 30 July 1970) is a British-American film director, writer and producer. He is best known for writing and directing the psychological thriller Memento, sci-fi action thriller Inception, and rebooting the Batman film franchise, for which he has received considerable acclaim. He often collaborates with his brother (screenwriter Jonathan Nolan), his wife (producer Emma Thomas), and recently with actors Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Cillian Murphy. Nolan is the founder of the production company Syncopy Films and is a dual citizen of the United Kingdom and the United States.
