Jewelry designer. From her website:
Dream The Possible Dream
When Shawn Warren started designing jewelry six years ago, one of her main visions was to take fine jewelry out of the realm of impossibility. "There was a designer I loved who sold at Barney's and her earrings were $18,000 a pair, which seemed exorbitant," Shawn says. "I've always thought of jewelry as something you should be able to collect, which that price point certainly wouldn't have allowed." With this goal in mind, Shawn designed her first collection of vintage-inspired 18k gold earrings with precious and semi-precious stones smartly priced at $2,000 per pair. "We sold 20 pairs in two days, which was very encouraging," Shawn notes. Since then she's become the "secret weapon" of red carpet walkers and society women a like, doing business almost entirely through word of mouth.
One Way Or Another
To Shawn, versatility is an important aspect of every piece she creates. "I always ask myself if I can wear something with jeans or if I can layer it with other pieces that I have," she explains. To that end, pendants are available with both elegant chains, as well as rock star leather chords, and more casual stones, such as agate, are frequently combined with more high brow ones, such as diamonds. In addition, her chains are often ultra-long but come with clasps so they can be worn closer to the neck.
Expect The Unexpected
While she abhors uber trendiness, Shawn frequently melds seemingly clashing styles to create a harmonious "unexpected" end result. "I love the look of leather and diamonds," she says.
In Short Supply
Another secret to Shawn's success is her willingness to create one-of-a-kind or limited edition designs. "My client is definitely a woman who doesn't want to see her necklace on five other woman," she reveals.
