Re Framing Propaganda
About

This piece creates new context for a bit of World War 1 propoganda which was initially conceived to frighten the American people by spreading the idea of "the Hun."  Edward Bernays and other early PR men found that the dissemination of evil (though slightly mythological) characters was an effective means of motiving an otherwise peace-loving populace into war. Hence the slogan, "war needs bad guys."

Without an enemy, its awfully hard to pick a fight.
